Young Neighbors in Action- an exciting, integrated service-learning experience for parish and school teams of older youth and adults. Young Neighbors is more than a week of service. It is an extended program that provides the experiences, skills and learning needed to make change possible.
Rooted in Catholic vision, the Center for Ministry Development (CMD) inspires and equips leaders in faith communities to help ensure a future of exemplary ministry, foster lifelong faith formation, and promote the active participation of the people of God.
The Center for Ministry Development provides training, resources and consultation for pastoral ministry and catechesis with youth, young adults, families, and the intergenerational community. |

St. Vincent’s meets daily challenges by efficiently channeling their supporters’ time and money and by educating our staff to ensure quality services to those in need. St. Vincent de Paul Center offers many services to their community, including childcare services, senior services, homeless services, food distribution, and social services.

Faith and FellowshipFaith & Fellowship
Faith & Fellowship is a thirty-year-old ministry of spiritual and social outreach to people whose lives are affected by mental illness such as major depression, bi-polar disorder, and schizophrenia. The program is hosted at St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy Parish (Oak Park) and is a great opportunity for youth to increase their awareness and understanding of people with mental illness – and to have a good time in the bargain! We can work with groups to help them create a service-learning project that are fun and beneficial to everyone.

Little Brothers - Friends of the ElderlyLittle Brothers – Friends of the Elderly
Guided by their motto, “Flowers before Bread”, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly is a unique family of volunteers, staff, and funders whose mission is to create relationships that enrich the lives of their elderly friends to ease their loneliness and isolation. To ensure the success of their mission, staff and volunteers at Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly build personal and permanent friendships with the elderly through regular visits, celebrating special occasions with them, and working together to meet their basic needs. Each staff or volunteer accompanies their elderly friend to the end of their life.
Volunteer requirements:
Youth under the age of 18 must complete an orientation process accompanied with their parents. We cannot accompany youth under 18 by themselves.

Harmony, Hope, and HealingHarmony, Hope, and Healing
Harmony, Hope, and Healing (HHH) is a creative music program offering dignity and spiritual healing to the homeless and underserved in the Chicago area. Through musical, educational, therapeutic, creative and performance components, their goal is to facilitate growth in musical knowledge, build creativity and confidence in self-expression as well as improve self-esteem. HHH’s program most importantly serves as a healing tool for recovery from the adverse effects of homelessness and poverty. They typically work in collaborative partnership with various social services agencies, church and community based organizations in order to achieve their goals and further the extent of their outreach.

The Peace CornerThe Peace Corner
The Peace Corner is a drop-in center for young people on Chicago's west side. The Peace Corner opened in January 2002 to provide neighborhood youth with a safe place to gather, do their homework, and to participate in various recreation and learning activities. It is a welcoming and caring environment within a neighborhood characterized by crime and violence. The Peace Corner tries to provide a safe space that is open to everyone in the neighborhood and several instances of peace and reconciliation have occurred through the mediation of Peace Corner staff. We are gradually breaking down the artificial barriers that separate young people in the neighborhood.

Marillac Social Center: A Ministry of the Daughters of CharityMarillac Social Center: A Ministry of the Daughters of Charity
Marillac began in 1914 as Catholic Social Center and included a Day Nursery, a Kindergarten, a lunch room and programs for women. In 1946, the Daughters of Charity sponsored its incorporation as Marillac Social Center. Now from the corner of Jackson and Francisco, we are helping families to break the cycle of poverty, to become self-sufficient and to raise their children in a loving, nurturing environment. From the unborn child, to teenage mothers, to the homebound elderly, Marillac House continues to offer a tremendous scope of programs with the spirit of the Daughters of Charity guiding our daily work.
